Family, A Letter By Elizabeth Gagnier

A Letter To God For Her Family

A letter about family written by my great aunt, Elizabeth (Betty) Gagnier. A great reminder of how we should all think and act toward each other.

Beautiful words by my mother’s Aunt Betty. She wrote this to God for her whole family, but mostly her children.

Dear God,

Bless all my family and give them the strength to face the challenges in life

Remind them that as each child is born a Mother’s love is not divided but multiplied again and again, has no favourites, but tries to give each of her children help and love as it is needed some needing more than others

Let them remember the good times we shared also the bad times we’ve gotten through together

Please do not let my family be separated by conflict. Remind them that as we are a family unique in size we also have many different opinions as to how each thing should be accomplished

Give them ears to listen to each other, heart enough to compromise, a mind large enough to accept opinions, and strength to stay together as a family

Let not one of them be lonely or stand alone as long as they have one brother or sister who can help them

Help them to reach their own personal goals and follow the good examples I have tried to set for them throughout my life

Amen!

It is a beautiful letter my great aunt wrote before she died. This letter contains a very powerful message that we can all learn from. As soon as I found out about this letter, even before I got to read it, I knew that I needed to share it with the world. It is not only my great aunt Elizabeth Gagnier’s immediate family who need these words; the entire world needs these words.

If these words can help anyone who reads them, then Aunt Betty would be happy she made a difference. So, to all who are struggling to get along with family members, hopefully these words of compassion and understanding will help you.
